International Open Access Week from 21 October 2019 to 27 October 2019 is a global event; now entering its eleventh year for Open Access advocates to engage their communities to teach them about Open Access, to share what they have learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. Begun in 2007 as Open Access Day, the event was originally a partnership between Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) and students who organized local events on a handful of campuses across the United States. Since then, International Open Access Week has grown exponentially and is now celebrated at hundreds of events around the world.
