Our thanks to SPARC for keeping the Open Access Week website flourishing!

African Journals OnLine (AJOL) is doing our bit to raise awareness of both Open Access as a valid publishing model in developing countries, and to inform our users about Open Access Week. To achieve the latter, we have replaced our usual featured country photos at the top of each page on our site (at www.ajol.info) with a banner linked to openaccessweek.org.

Since the AJOL website is visited by over 200,000 people from all over the globe each month, we hope that this will give good exposure to all the exciting events taking place during Open Access week internationally, and perhaps even provide some impetus for additional activities in African countries this year, or next!

Nearly a third of AJOL's 411 journal partners are OA, and we are delighted to see such a strong uptake of Open Access from the African continent's scholarly journal publishing community.
