Open Science and Open Access Publishing: Open for Climate Justice

In recognition of Open Access Week and Media and Information Literacy Week, University of Tehran and UNESCO Chair on Cyberspace and Culutre organize “Open Science and Open Access Publishing: Open for Climate Justice” workshop on Monday, 24 October 2022. In this workshop, the instructor elaborates on the concept of open science, what encourages authors to choose open access publishing, and explores whether there are any specific points to consider when opting for OA publishing. This workshop covers some components of open science, remarks the challenges specific to open access, and illustrates the ways in which the new technology and tools can improve research in terms of collaboration, efficiency, and productivity. The workshop participants will further their comprehension of open access with a clear understanding of the potential matters they should consider when it comes to open access publishing.

About the speaker: Alireza Salehi Nejad is a researcher at Cyberspace Research Policy Center, University of Tehran, and has extensively collaborated with numerous academic publishers - notably SAGE Publications, Elsevier, Cambridge University Press, Canadian Center of Science & Education, Springer Nature - and scholarly journals as an editorial board member and reviewer. Alireza has served as Associate Editor for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Associate Editor on linguistics for De Gruyter Open, the Ethics Committee of Linguistic Society of America, Mendeley Advisor, Figshare Ambassador, Center for Open Science Ambassador, and Web of Science Academy Mentor.
